Relaxed Fit : Just a few macro shots of one of my favorite pair of jeans.

Strange Universe : A series of shots I took using a Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and a set of extension tubes. The subject was a small bottle of hand soap from Bath & Body Works, the kind with the tiny little beads, or grit, inside. I used a handheld LED flashlight for lighting and just played around with various positions and distances while watching for shadows and interesting highlights through the viewfinder. Aside from some basic color-balance and tone adjustments, they're all pretty much straight from the camera. All are full frame except the first two.

Up for critique : This gallery will hold random images submitted to the "Honest Feedback and Critique" community. I may personally like or dislike these images for any number of reasons, but the reason for them being here is to solicit feedback and critiques from other individuals with the goal of improving my work. Photographers and non-photographers should both feel free to add their input. I'm normally pretty critical of my own images, some say too critical, so there isn't anything you might tell me about my work that will somehow offend me. Just let me know what's working and what's not in any given image, including everything from subject matter to composition and lighting. Thanks for your time and input.

My Planets : Inspired by amy wilburn's planet, "barns are noble 2", I decided to try my hand at a few of these surreal creations.

Nala and Simba on Ice : A fun, spur of the moment, Sunday morning project. I was outside having my morning coffee when I noticed how nice the morning dew looked on my sister's patio table. I thought for a few moments how to capture the dew, and suddenly remembered seeing some little Lion King toys in the kid's bathroom.

I got out the 70-200 lens and gathered the toys. I certainly wish I had my tripod with me but, unfortunately I had to shoot these hand-held. The DOF and sharpness suffers a little but it was a fun exercise nonetheless. Below is the result.

Thanks for looking.

Old Hayti Community Mural : Some fun shots from scouting a location for a series of portraits I was asked to undertake.
A brief photo storyline about the man who I plan to photograph in front of this mural, and his reaction to receiving a mounted print of it, can be seen here.

See caption of the panorama shot for info on the mural.

Turtle Soup : I spotted these boys walking on a local dam as I drove by back in July 2003, so I turned the car around to see what was going on. It was nearly 100 degrees and the mother of one boy had brought them all to the river to have some fun and cool off for the afternoon. It didn't take long after seeing my camera before the boys started showing off with all sorts of neat tricks. They were having a really good time. The "Turtle Soup" idea came from the boys. They said the water, which was warm, frothy, and smelly, reminded them of turtle soup. I'm not sure what turtle soup actually smells like but, if it's anything like the smell I remember from that day, I don't think I care to try it any time soon.
